your opponent has 8 wins and 8 knockouts. fight!
so it's 2 o'clock in the morning and the just showed a mike tyson fight from his early years. i already know all about it but i still find it absolutely hilarious. he was a machine. for one i noticed that the broadcast started and ended in half an hour. not even thinking, i figured that this must have been on of his post every-fight-was-a-first-round-knockout phase and they would just show his fight for the 30 minutes, but i was wrong. the first 20 minutes was the first fight on the card leaving 10 minutes for the tyson main event. haha i knew where this was going so i didn't look away cause i might have missed it. so they introduced him and his opponent, michael johnson, and they went at it. 20 seconds later, michael johnson was on his back. 8 counts later michael johnson was standing up, and groggy. 4 seconds later michael johnson was on his back again probably dreaming of the time he was riding his tricycle on the driveway. it was just that fast. how would you feel as a professional fighter, standing in the ring against a 19 year old that was 8-0 with 8 knockouts, 7 in the first round. i don't know about you but i would be pretty terrified, regardless. the best part was the post-fight interview. they had mike tyson in the ring, not even a drop of sweat i might add, with some boxing specialist, i didn't catch who he was. he was speechless. tysons trainer wants to get him experience but nobody lasts more than a round. a half round at that.
"we've got a huge problem here. we have a 19 year old that throws... hydrogen bombs."
"no one can take his punches so how can we get him any experience? anyone of those punches has the potential to knock out any professional fighter."
"this is a huge problem because any punch is a knockout punch. this is a huuge problem"
"finding sparring partners is extremely hard. it's hard to get him sparring partners nevermind opponents."
i hope michael johnson got paid well.
i have to get my hands on a dvd set of his first 20 fights.
too funny.

love hate relationship
love apple computers. love them. love them. love them. but, i have to agree with the aggrevated people that just recently purchased new iMacs and Powerbooks, who are just now finding out that something new and better is now available. i remember a few years ago, there would be a keynote/announcement of upcoming products, a release date, and dropped prices on the current models to be replaced. it's not exactly lying, i don't think, but it is totally unfair to spend a bunch of money on a top-of-the-line computer only to find out weeks, sometimes days later that you could have gotten something substantially better for the same money. it's dishonest.but then again, this is 2006. technology is moving faster than ever. you're always going to be behind. period.
"what an asshole!"
a disgruntled dave lang who just recently purchased a "new" iMac.
ps - i'm going to love my macbook hehehehe!

mind your surroundings
so before my AMAZING trip, that i will tell you about later, i had an interesting visit my dealership to get my oil (car haha) changed. it's amazing what you can learn just by observing. such as:
1. there are crazy people everywhere, even at car dealerships. while waiting, i saw this older man walk through the dealership. then around it, then back through it, then across the street, then back over to dealership, then he stared at a tree for awhile, then continued his tour. i thought maybe he had a car there and was just trying to pass the time but then i heard one of the mechanics ask "who's this guy? that guy? he's been here for hours!"
2. does every business have a bossy figurehead who appears to have no job but to tell other employees what they are doing or what they should be doing? well, i guess for all i know, that could have been Don Howson of "Don Howson Chevrolet" but regardless, he didn't seem to have much of a purpose other than to ask meaningless questions and make redundant requests, and in a "dickish" manner at that.
"hey, can you move this stuff, to there?" it was A (one) box. i'm sure he could have handled it other than disturbing the cashier dealing with other customers. there was a guy in there painting because they had just gone under renovations. he asked the painter to move his things because "this is a business." it was a can of paint, and a paint tray, that he was using to paint. what an ass!
3. apparently burping is no longer considered rude in public. there was a gentleman sitting across from me who let loose a pretty good one, of course not excusing himself but was no comparison to the earth shattering rumble that came out of the woman beside me minutes later. she didn't flinch or anything. it was like a natural reaction like breathing. i jumped, looked at her, and of course started to laugh to myself. she just went on reading her harlequin novel.
4. women actually DO read harlequin novels. you know, the love books you can find in grocery stores with simulated paintings of fabio on the cover sitting on a rock in a waterfall or something like that?
5. 6 seats are not enough, in any waiting room. unless it's a prosthetic limb repair shop for pet grasshoppers or something that rare of that nature.
6. apparently watching someone paint is entertaining, relaxing, and DANGEROUS. i looked up from reading my book and i noticed everyone kind of looking in one direction. when i say everyone, i mean EVERYONE. what were they gawking at? the painter, painting the wall, sloooooooooowly. i looked away quickly so i wouldn't get hypnotized and fall under the same comatose as the others. i'm waiting to see him on the news. he may be the next villain - The Painter. he renders his victims unconscious with his slow, deliberate strokes as he pretends to be an everyday painter, and then has his way with them.
7. have you heard of the mustache imp? well, apparently he comes to you (men) when you turn 50 or so and outfits you with some mega facial hair and a styling guide. the facial hair sits thick and stringy and is immediately ready for twisting and forming. at the dealership i saw a group of older man talking in a circle, all with ridiculous mustaches. they might as well have been playing double dutch. i can't wait to be 50. i wish i had my camera on me. would have been a photo-shoot!
8. women read more then men. every woman in the waiting area was reading something. cosmopolitan, the newspaper, harlequin novels, something. of course before being hypnotized by The Painter. every man was looking at the ceiling or the floor. a couple picking their nose and the others styling their mustaches.
9. black people trust black people. if a black person enters a building, store, or in this case, a dealership, and there is another black person in there, they will ask them their question whether they work there or not. a nice little lady came in, passed the information desk and started asking me questions. maybe she thought i was employed there in my green burton jacket and thought that information meant something else but i doubt it. it took me two tries to for me to direct her to the information desk. i'm not quite sure what to say here..... loosen up people?!
10. mechanics don't like humour at their own expense. ages ago on my older blog, i had a little confrontation with a John Grad. he tried to charge me like a hundred bucks basically to check something that you didn't even touch my car to check. luckily another agent told him it was his mistake and it was actually FREE of charge. anyway, i saw him again that day. it's been like 8 months or so since i'd been there and honestly, i was still a little bitter at the guy. after dealing with another agent he directed me to the waiting room. as he opened the door he asked how i was doing and i could have a seat in the new waiting room, i laughed and replied "you're not going to charge to to sit are you?" laughing in reality but inside SO SERIOUS! he smiled and walked away. stuart 2 - john grad 0 but 50 douche points

apparently "underground," but super good! well, an acquired taste i suppose (good taste that is haha). i've read her reviewed as "sometimes sounding like a female manimal getting her toenails extracted..." pttttsssssssh! they don't know what they're talk about. like "manimals" (half man, half animal) EVEN exist. so by process of elimination and reality, and lots of charts and diagrams, that review becomes invalid which comes to the conclusion that she's a little different which makes her good and worth a download. give it a listen. not a "listen," a LISTEN.more spoon feeding -

HOV rubbish
so they have installed these "high occupancy vehicle" lanes on a couple highways here AROUND toronto to mimic california, hoping that it will make commuting downtown faster and draw more drivers to car-pool. i see what they are trying to do but i think they've blown it and missed the point.
they have one of these HOV lanes from hwy 7 to the DVP; not ON the DVP, the busiest entrance into downtown. why wouldn't they make it ON the DVP? by where they've situated it, they are relieving traffic on the 404 to the 401, not downtown which they boast that these new lanes will accomplish. people that take the 401 (south of hwy 7) to the DVP to go downtown are still encountering the same amonut of traffic, not to mention the new traffic created when the HOV lane ends and merges back to the DVP. from someone that has to commute, i don't see how this is going to make more people decide to car-pool and ease traffic to the downtown area. whadda waste!
if they want to decrease the amount of drivers to relieve traffic, and better the environment (if that's even a thought), they would put money into extending the subway, and lower the cost of monthly passes. the reason most people drive is because in the big picture, what they are saving by taking the subway compared to driving is worth the drive. someone that does not live in the city directly is not going to make use to their metropass other than to go into and leave work, 5 days a week; 10 trips. if you only pay for the 10 trips, it's much cheaper than buying a metropass, but still expensive. if they lowered the cost to fit into more of the populations budget (a price around 10 subway trips, but at a discounted price), then they would make more money, more people would consider and take the subway more often, traffic would be substantially less (that's just my prediction but it seems logical), thus everyone wins! make sense?
it's funny cause they keep testing it on CityTV (local news station), and they say "(the other driver) got there much faster than me. i was in stop and go traffic and she drove right by me and got here much quicker." i'm pretty sure she said the difference was 10 minutes. 10 minutes. worth it? doubt it!
oh, and i'm used to driving downtown in the mornings. if you start before 7:45am, there's not much of anything to worry about other than drivers that are oblivious to everything around them. 7:45am - 9am? good luck!
i just wrote an email to the mayor of toronto, mayor miller. i'm curious to see what he says, if he responds.

it takes two!
so i had heard this album super briefly and quickly chose to write it off. i think the wording i used was "what a waste of megabytes!" (then i pushed up my glasses and adjusted my bow tie and pocket protector)oh how the time has changed. after re-aquiring it and giving it a full, in-depth, volume up, pen-tapping to, whooooooooooooop! 180. what an "amazing use of megabytes!" better than the first album. super good! snap!
track 13 - outsiders
soo good! (can you here it pete? ts. ts. ts. ts.)
ps - check me out, spoon feeding you. could it be any easier?

sports village or alcohol asylum
so the local, outdoor, "traditional" skatepark has just been closed for the winter, and closed forever. turns out that this palce they called "the sports village" is nothing of the sort. basically it's a bar surrounded by activites that draw people to drink. clearly, now, this place is centred around this bar. not the activities aka sports per say. they are just devices to lure people into the bar.
their first device is hockey, only because hockey parents seem to ingest more alcohol and food than any other sport. there are a number of baseball fields in the area so i guess that's their summer device of choice. but since they can't have baseball closer to the bar, they needed to come up with something else. yeah, there was a skatepark there that hundreds of kids used but there's a problem - they dont drink alcohol! the bar can't make money off kids attending the sports village for sport. so they ditched the skatepark for their new venture, beach volleyball. that should bring more adults to the bar. they have a climbing wall that they spent a ridiculous amount of money to do what it does - look like a huge piece of feces sticking out of the ground. too bad the only people that occassional use that are kids, who again, don't drink alcohol.
this place needs to get their priorities straight. they need to change their name and get rid off all the sports/devices there, cut to the chase and replace them with a larger bar and some adult entertainment or something of that nature. it might be just me but wouldn't it be a more intelligent idea to update the facitlities around the "sports village"? out more money into the park, which is really the only of its kind in southern ontario? im pretty sure if they made a top-of-the-line park, something that could be run in the winter too, they wouldn't have to worry so much about the bar. skateboarding? "extreme" sports? who does that? but then again, that's with the sports as the priority, not the bar. here's an idea: maybe think of it LOGICALLY! bars not making money, CLOSE THE BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
completely ridiculous.

of course i'd do that. it doesn't make sense.
you know what's funny? people who sacrifice original intent for reasons that dismiss the original intent. i dont know exactly how to describe it. like when someone does something for one reason and then do something else that ignores the original reason for doing that thing in the first place. does that have a word? does that make any sense? hmmm, how about some examples:
someone who puts pictures up in their house, but turns them down so they don't get dusty and have to dust them.
someone who refuses to drive in the lane closes to oncoming traffic for safety but disregards their life when the other lanes are too bumpy. so you'd rather risk your life than drive over a few little potholes? (dad!)
someone who has one of those motion sensor lights for the front of their house but turns it off at because it turns on in the middle of the night. is that the point? to stay off but turn on when something or someone cross it?
someone who rides a bike for exercise and to get healthy, and smokes.
someone who decorates a room, like a living room, with comfortable furniture, but covers it in plastic and has no intention for anyone to sit on or use it.
someone who is looking for a white snow suit for their daughter who loves to play in the mud.
hmmmm...

watch music and hear video?
so i was watching some music videos today and had a thought that maybe someone could answer for me:
why even bother "sing" in a music video?
in a music video, artist are always singing, and playing their instruments and all that jazz. but why? what's the point? the music you're hearing is what they recorded in studio, or at a concert etc. which fits the fine if thats what the video is. but whats the point in "singing" aka lip syncing? you can't do it live but you can do it in a video? couldnt the video do without it? in most cases, i think it could. they don't need to convince me that they are the ones singing or the ones that made the song. i know. and even if i questioned it, i wouldn't turn to a video for validation. it doesn't need to be validated. i know that they wouldn't sound like that if they were (insert video scenario here). i know the track that's playing was recorded in a studio. i just think the lip syncing in the video is unnecessary and superfluous. i personally would prefer watching a mini-movie type video. they should put more thought into the production and try to make something worth watching, it is a VIDEO. there are good videos out there but definitely not enough. "hey make sure you get the bassist playing!" why? i know what a bass sounds like and i know what it looks like and if i care enough i know who the bassist is. so why show them, in the video, playing the bass? kinda redundant. for all i know, they could just be picking away notes randomly, which i don't doubt. it's also a waste of video don't you think? i'm watching it because i want to WATCH something. isn't that the point of a video? if i just wanted to hear it, i would download it, turn the satellite station the plays music genres all day, or listen to it somewhere else.
namm zain?

mr. and mrs. smith

what a great movie. there's a few little things that i thought were a bit lame but all in all, a great movie. i enjoyed watching mr. smith throw mrs. smith through some glass and apply kicks to her gut but i think i would have like to see someone else other than the tomb raider play mrs. smith. but that's just me.
the gift of giving musics

apparently i'm being overshadowed
"Stuart Campbell (born 1959) was a builder who was convicted in December 2002 for the kidnap and murder of his niece Danielle Jones, 15. but lost an appeal on January 21st 2005. She disappeared on 18th June 2001 while walking to a bus stop in East Tilbury, Essex, where she lived. Her body has never been recovered, and Campbell has always maintained his innocence. It is unusual to prosecute for murder in the UK without a body, but police did find a pair of blood stained stockings in his home, the DNA of which matched both Campbell and Danielle. In his diary, which police used in evidence, Campbell revealed an obsession with teenage girls. Campbell also claimed Danielle had text messaged him, but evidence from mobile phone masts shows that when she supposedly texted him his mobile phone was in the same place as hers, evidence that he had taken her mobile, and used it to text his own. His own mobile phone also disproved his alibi that at the time he was in a D-I-Y store half an hour's drive away in Rayleigh. In one 20 minute interview with the police he said "no comment" to 50 questions, causing the police to describe him as uncooperative. A police superintendent said to the BBC that "he developed a relationship with Danielle that was certainly inappropriate and probably unlawful. She apparently tried to disengage herself, but he resisted." Campbell was known to pose as a photographer to take photos of teenage girls in parks. In 1976 he was sentenced to 4 years in prison for robbing a 16 year old girl in the street, while in 1989 he was given a 12 month suspended sentence for forcibly detaining a 14 year old girl in his house and taking photos of her in a karate outfit."
hahaha karate?
he didn't know karate but he knew krazy! (james brown anyone?)
it's a good thing names don't dictate human behavior and/or lifestyle....... in my case at least.

branches! leaves! bark! terrified!
while i was on the way home today, i was close so i decided to drive by my old neighborhood. everything looked identical. our old house, the school that i ran home from after punching bobby parker in the face while lining up to go to class after recess, and the babysitters house which was still completed covered in trees and vines. the dent was still in the portable that i ran into learning how to ride a bike haha (i have no explanation. i froze). i didn't see the street mascot, sandy, a hairy border collie that everyone loved who freely walked the block receiving belly scratches and bits of whatever anyone was eating. i don't doubt she's dead, its been about 16 years and when i was little, she wasn't a puppy.on my way out i passed THE tree. there was this tree that for whatever reason i acquired a fear of when i was a tyke. i was absolutely terrified of this harmless piece of first round paper. most kids are scared of psycho guard dogs, ghosts, 5 foot 8 chubby bullies that constantly pick on you and threaten your life (bobby parker), not me. i was painstakingly blitzed about this tree. i remember having to stop and cross the street to get where i was going. when we drove by it, i remember crouching and peaking at it from the backseat. i was having no part of this tree. i don't know what it was, i don't know where it came from but i was completely terrified of this tree. i guess it had something to do with the wound/deformity in the bark.
my mother will occasinally bring up the day that i touched it. she talks about it like i won this huge award like a nobel peace prize or something. i guess it was an accomplishment, getting over my fear or whatever. i laugh about it now cause i can hahaha.
oh, you're asking if i touched it today. of course i did! i stopped the car, got out, walked right up to it and gave it a full-hand slap. what!!! was i scared? haha no.
slightly.
