metric has a second album called 'live it out'
if you love metric, you'll love this one!
broken social scene has a new album called.... broken social scene.
this album is, um, tighter than their other albums; though i didn't mind their other albums. this one has a lot more energy. not so "I slept with bonhomme at the cbc" and more "almost crimes." the album altogether is not so loose. know what i mean?
(you know what i mean pete!)

fashion 101

in case you missed it, this is the new style that's taking over. this visor/full face sunglass is the fresh new style straight out of toronto. you can sport it in a few different ways. you can wear it, as shown, as a over-sized-billed visor OR you can pull the shield down completely covering your face keeping all sun, wind, bugs, water, fingers, etc off and out of your face. if you're saying to yourself "but then you wont be able to see?" that's the great thing about this item. it is not opaque. it is transparent enough for you too see through but dark enough to shield you from the sun. i'm not sure if there is a UV coating on it or not but i'll look into that and get back to you.
genius i tell you. genius. and it looks great too.
thats all for now.

Toronto International Film Festival

but yeah, the fesival. if you love films, check it out.
i guess if you love celebrities, check it out.
if you're insane and lust after the cast of the o.c., check it out.
haha. trying....

sony definitely doesn't get it. you cannot battle the iPod with this thing. people are more in love with the lifestyle that apple has created more than the product. yes they fall in love with it once they have it but if you ask any joe schmo on the street what he wanted, a sony mp3 player or an apple iPod...... apple has a lifestyle and image that goes a long with it. thats what people are buying. people want you to know they have an iPod, thats why they wear it outside their pants along with their white earbuds. that's why its up there as being one of the most stolen items on the market. apple does make amazing stuff but i dont think most people realize it. that's why you have people with powerbooks and iPods and don't have the slightest idea command (apple) "tab" does or know what an external hard drive is. know what i'm saying?
image. image is everything.

Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs : A Low Culture Manifesto

There's quite a bit of intelligent analysis and thought-provoking insight packed into the pages of Chuck Klosterman's Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, which is a little surprising considering how darn stupid most of Klosterman's subject matter actually is. Klosterman, one of the few members of the so-called "Generation X" to proudly embrace that label and the stereotypical image of disaffected slackers that often accompanies it, takes the reader on a witty and highly entertaining tour through portions of pop culture not usually subjected to analysis and presents his thoughts on Saved by the Bell, Billy Joel, amateur porn, MTV's The Real World, and much more. It would be easy in dealing with such subject matter to simply pile on some undergraduate level deconstruction, make a few jokes, and have yourself a clever little book. But Klosterman goes deeper than that, often employing his own life spent as a member of the lowbrow target demographic to measure the cultural impact of his subjects. While the book never quite lives up to the use of the word "manifesto" in the title (it's really more of a survey mixed with elements of memoir), there is much here to entertain and illuminate, particularly passages on the psychoses and motivations of breakfast cereal mascots, the difference between Celtic fans and Laker fans, and The Empire Strikes Back. Sections on a Guns n' Roses tribute band, The Sims, and soccer feel more like magazine pieces included to fill space than part of a cohesive whole. But when you're talking about a book based on a section of cultural history so reliant on a lack of attention span, even the incongruities feel somehow appropriate. --John Moe
