watch music and hear video?

so i was watching some music videos today and had a thought that maybe someone could answer for me:

why even bother "sing" in a music video?

in a music video, artist are always singing, and playing their instruments and all that jazz. but why? what's the point? the music you're hearing is what they recorded in studio, or at a concert etc. which fits the fine if thats what the video is. but whats the point in "singing" aka lip syncing? you can't do it live but you can do it in a video? couldnt the video do without it? in most cases, i think it could. they don't need to convince me that they are the ones singing or the ones that made the song. i know. and even if i questioned it, i wouldn't turn to a video for validation. it doesn't need to be validated. i know that they wouldn't sound like that if they were (insert video scenario here). i know the track that's playing was recorded in a studio. i just think the lip syncing in the video is unnecessary and superfluous. i personally would prefer watching a mini-movie type video. they should put more thought into the production and try to make something worth watching, it is a VIDEO. there are good videos out there but definitely not enough. "hey make sure you get the bassist playing!" why? i know what a bass sounds like and i know what it looks like and if i care enough i know who the bassist is. so why show them, in the video, playing the bass? kinda redundant. for all i know, they could just be picking away notes randomly, which i don't doubt. it's also a waste of video don't you think? i'm watching it because i want to WATCH something. isn't that the point of a video? if i just wanted to hear it, i would download it, turn the satellite station the plays music genres all day, or listen to it somewhere else.

namm zain?

mr. and mrs. smith

what a great movie. there's a few little things that i thought were a bit lame but all in all, a great movie. i enjoyed watching mr. smith throw mrs. smith through some glass and apply kicks to her gut but i think i would have like to see someone else other than the tomb raider play mrs. smith. but that's just me.

apparently i'm being overshadowed

"Stuart Campbell (born 1959) was a builder who was convicted in December 2002 for the kidnap and murder of his niece Danielle Jones, 15. but lost an appeal on January 21st 2005. She disappeared on 18th June 2001 while walking to a bus stop in East Tilbury, Essex, where she lived. Her body has never been recovered, and Campbell has always maintained his innocence. It is unusual to prosecute for murder in the UK without a body, but police did find a pair of blood stained stockings in his home, the DNA of which matched both Campbell and Danielle. In his diary, which police used in evidence, Campbell revealed an obsession with teenage girls. Campbell also claimed Danielle had text messaged him, but evidence from mobile phone masts shows that when she supposedly texted him his mobile phone was in the same place as hers, evidence that he had taken her mobile, and used it to text his own. His own mobile phone also disproved his alibi that at the time he was in a D-I-Y store half an hour's drive away in Rayleigh. In one 20 minute interview with the police he said "no comment" to 50 questions, causing the police to describe him as uncooperative. A police superintendent said to the BBC that "he developed a relationship with Danielle that was certainly inappropriate and probably unlawful. She apparently tried to disengage herself, but he resisted." Campbell was known to pose as a photographer to take photos of teenage girls in parks. In 1976 he was sentenced to 4 years in prison for robbing a 16 year old girl in the street, while in 1989 he was given a 12 month suspended sentence for forcibly detaining a 14 year old girl in his house and taking photos of her in a karate outfit."

hahaha karate?
he didn't know karate but he knew krazy! (james brown anyone?)
it's a good thing names don't dictate human behavior and/or lifestyle....... in my case at least.

    branches! leaves! bark! terrified!

while i was on the way home today, i was close so i decided to drive by my old neighborhood. everything looked identical. our old house, the school that i ran home from after punching bobby parker in the face while lining up to go to class after recess, and the babysitters house which was still completed covered in trees and vines. the dent was still in the portable that i ran into learning how to ride a bike haha (i have no explanation. i froze). i didn't see the street mascot, sandy, a hairy border collie that everyone loved who freely walked the block receiving belly scratches and bits of whatever anyone was eating. i don't doubt she's dead, its been about 16 years and when i was little, she wasn't a puppy.

on my way out i passed THE tree. there was this tree that for whatever reason i acquired a fear of when i was a tyke. i was absolutely terrified of this harmless piece of first round paper. most kids are scared of psycho guard dogs, ghosts, 5 foot 8 chubby bullies that constantly pick on you and threaten your life (bobby parker), not me. i was painstakingly blitzed about this tree. i remember having to stop and cross the street to get where i was going. when we drove by it, i remember crouching and peaking at it from the backseat. i was having no part of this tree. i don't know what it was, i don't know where it came from but i was completely terrified of this tree. i guess it had something to do with the wound/deformity in the bark.

my mother will occasinally bring up the day that i touched it. she talks about it like i won this huge award like a nobel peace prize or something. i guess it was an accomplishment, getting over my fear or whatever. i laugh about it now cause i can hahaha.

oh, you're asking if i touched it today. of course i did! i stopped the car, got out, walked right up to it and gave it a full-hand slap. what!!! was i scared? haha no.

    slightly.
